Kasr El Nile Bridge was first named after Khedeive Ismail before the end of Royal regime. The bridge was completed in 1933 where the famous lions, designed by the French sculptor and animalier Alfred Jacquemart, have been standing proud, guarding the bridge and those who use it to cross the river. The lions were originally meant to stand guard in Alexandria around the statue of Mohamed Ali Pasha, they decided however it should go to Cairo and become one of it's icons. Rumor has it that the lion on the right looking over Saad Zaghloul has golden coins buried under it and is haunted by the artist that sculpted it after he committed suicide on that exact spot due to his failed attempt to sculpt a whiskers on the lions. In appreciation to what we now know as Lions of Kasr El Nile, we present to you a custom made desk lamp that will light up your room as they have been lighting up Cairo's streets.

اسدين قصر النيل الذين صممهم النحات الفرنسي ألفريد جاكيمارت، قائمين منذ عام 1933. يربط الجسر الجزيرة بميدان التحرير في وسط القاهرة. كان من المفترض في الأصل أن يقفوا كحرس الإسكندرية حول تمثال محمد علي باشا ولكن قرر في آخر لحظة أن من الأفضل ان يوضعوا في القاهرة. هذا القرار حول الاسدين الى المعالم الأكثر أهمية في القاهرة. شهدت الأسود الكثير من الأحداث منذ تأسيسها، في نهاية القرن التاسع عشر. من الاوقات الرومانسية، إلى ثورة 25 يناير إلى كل شيء بينهما، فقد جمعت هذه الأسود الملايين من الناس.
تقول الشائعات إن الأسد الموجود على اليمين الذي يطل على سعد زغلول لديه عملات ذهبية مدفونة تحته وتطارده روح ألفريد جاكيمارت، الفنان الذي نحته. تعتمد الشائعات على حقيقة أن النحات قد انتحر في نفس المكان بالضبط بسبب محاولته الفاشلة لنحت شعيرات على الأسود؛ ومنذ ذلك اليوم كان يتسكع روحيا حول أسوده.
